A Dog Chained In An Abandoned Backyard Is Overjoyed To Be Rescued

When a man in Detroit returned home one day and noticed a chained dog in a nearby backyard, he immediately began phoning around for help. Fortunately, Rebel Dogs Detroit responded to the call and assigned Tiffany Perkins, a volunteer, to investigate. She had no idea what to expect when she arrived, but as soon as she saw Beaker, her heart melted.

“Beaker was scared and cowered behind the garage to hide,” Perkins told The Dodo. “He peered out the side as I started yelling for him. As I neared, his tail began to wag. Then he leaned into us, as if relieved that we were patting him. He ‘meeped’ like a muppet since he was so excited, therefore he was named Beaker!” Beaker was obviously nervous after being tied up and abandoned, but as soon as he realized Perkins was on his way to save him, he quickly relaxed and was happy to see his new best friend.

“When the chain from the garage was unfastened, he sank to the ground for belly rubs, licks, and playful pandemonium,” Perkins said. Unfortunately, Beaker’s chain had been entangled around his neck, so Perkins rushed him to the vet to have him examined. While they waited for Beaker’s procedure to remove the chain, Perkins used the extra time to shower Beaker with affection he’d never known, and the beautiful puppy was happy.

“We had lots of bonding time in the car waiting for his surgery for 5+ hours,” Perkins told reporters. “He was napping with his head in my lap after a while.” Even after everything Beaker had been through, all he wanted was to be loved – and his dream had finally been granted. Beaker is presently in his foster home recovering from surgery and is the happiest dog anyone has ever met. What happened to Beaker in the past doesn’t seem to matter.

What matters now is where he is and all of his new friends who love him and want him to be happy and secure. “In his foster home, he’s learning how to be an inside dog with unconditional affection,” Perkins said. Beaker is looking for his permanent home and would want to be with another playful, enthusiastic dog that can continue to teach him the ropes and become his best friend. Beaker knew he was finally secure the moment he saw his rescuers, and he can’t wait to find the forever home he deserves.
