Owl Takes A Child’s Stick Horse Toy And Flies Around On A Broomstick Like A Witch

It’s Halloween, and nothing says it better than a ‘Wicked Witch’ on a broomstick, only this time the witch was a great horned owl and the magic stick was a poor’s child hobby horse. Yes, you read it correctly! A scene that I would not have believed if it hadn’t been documented on camera and has since gone viral online!

The unusual incident occurred in Eureka, Illinois, when a big bird was riding a wooden horse toy around. Some of the residents first observed the owl resting on a pine tree, adjacent to the toy it had stolen. But it didn’t take long for it to spring into action. Eric Lind, who was in town visiting his parents, happened to be in the right place at the right moment. So, when one of his neighbors informed him of the spooky scene, he grabbed his iPhone and went out on the porch.

“My mom received a call from one of our neighbors telling her to look outside in the backyard at our pine tree,” the man told Newsweek. “At first, they saw the owl as it flew into the tree, but they couldn’t tell what it was carrying!” While the neighbors assumed the poor bird was twisted in something, Eric quickly realized that the owl – who, by the way, is a celebrity in the neighborhood – isn’t hurt, but rather having fun with a stolen object.

“It [the owl] is part of a family of owls that have been in the neighborhood for about 6 months now, and this is one of the young owls,” Eric explained on Facebook. “So, if someone sees the owl in danger or believes it is injured, I’m sure the appropriate authorities will be contacted.”

The man also uploaded a video of a ‘wicked witch’ flying about the area. Perfect for Halloween. “Current situation at my parents’ house,” he said on Facebook. “The young neighborhood owl has stolen this stick horse and is flying around with it.” Take a look!
