Shannon Lorio lost control of her vehicle late at night while driving on a rural road. On impact, she was ejected from the wreck. The woman was severely hurt and unable to move. As if that wasn’t enough, Lorio knew there was no one on the deserted roads who could assist her. Then she felt the breath of a massive animal on her face. A German Shepherd appeared out of nowhere to serve as her guardian angel.
“I’m not sure when I came to, but when I did, I felt his huge presence.” Lorio stated, “I could feel his breath. The dog…I’m not sure how he found me, but I’m grateful that he did.”
Then, the woman passed away and when she came into her feels again she felt how the dog is dragging her out. The heroic dog grabbed the woman by the hood of her jacked and dragged her more than 100ft to the edge of the road. Finally a car was passing and took the woman to the nearest hospital.
When Lario had fully recovered, she attempted to locate her guardian angel, but he had vanished. She eventually discovered him and took him to the Humane Society. Hero, the dog, has found a lifelong home with rescue trainer Heidy Drawdy. Hero currently works as a licensed search and rescue dog, which he is naturally brilliant at!
“That dog accomplished everything. He’s an incredible animal,” the woman remarked. “I told him you’ll always be my hero,” she said. “That’s what everybody started to call him, and that’s how he got his name.” More about this fantastic story may be found in the video below!
