Smart Dog Uses Leaves As Money To Buy Sweets At The School Store

A adorable black lab has been staying on the campus of Colombia’s Diversified Technical Education Institute of Monterrey Casanare since 2014. Negro appears to gel well with the students. OR, as a guardian, he may be keeping a watch on the kids as they go about their studies. Instead, because they share a house, the students look after him and give food, water, and shelter.

However, the dog appears to have determined to do things that are beyond his abilities. After all, a dog who lives on campus must be intelligent. So the dog noticed that the students buy goods from the campus store during their breaks. They even bought cookies for Negro from there. When our adorable dog learnt about commerce, he decided to experiment on his own.

“He’d go to the store and watch the kids give money and get something in return. Then one day, out of nowhere, he appeared with a leaf in his mouth, wagging his tail and declaring that he wanted a cookie,” teacher Angela Garcia Bernal explained.

More than that, Negro created his own unique money. Surprisingly, it was approved. Money, according to him, literally grows on trees. “He comes for cookies every day,” Gladys Barreto, a longtime store employee, explained. “He always pays in leaves. It is his regular purchase.”

And because Negro has been doing his trick for a while, the team takes precautions by feeding him only dog-safe meals. The staffs also limit his purchase to just a couple a day, but it’s still a sight to witness. “When you first see it, it almost makes you want to cry,” Bernal remarked. “He’s found a way to express himself. He’s quite clever.” That is, I must say, a very intelligent dog! Such as the one in the video below!
